The Mobile Learning Environment project

The Mobile Learning Environment (MoLE) project is a multinational technology research project sponsored by the U.S military as part of its Coalition Warfare Program.

The Global MedAid App

The goal of the project is to leverage global telecommunications infrastructure and mobile devices to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and resources between partners.

This prototyping initiative will develop and demonstrate an open source mobile learning capability that includes:

  • an extensible Mobile Application (App) Layer that operates on Apple and Android devices
  • a mobile architecture that integrates with traditional learning management systems (LMS)

Version 1.0 of this capability is designed for use by medical or public health personnel responding to a humanitarian crisis or natural disaster.

Mobile learning tools and techniques will offer responders a range of learning experiences and tools to help improve productivity on the job.

The MoLE project team includes academia, industry and government organizations from the United States and 21 other countries. These countries include: Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Egypt, France, Germany, Georgia, Jordan, Mexico, Norway, Peru, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.
